An Open Letter to Emily

Dear Emily Kate,

I wish I could crawl inside of your little baby brain for just a minute and figure out why you don't want to sleep in your own bed. Your daddy and I love cuddling with you, holding you in our arms and playing with you. However, 1am, 2am, 3am and 4am are not the appropriate times for that. I know that you are tired and want sleep because you go right to sleep when we hold you. But PLEASE stay asleep when we put you in your crib. You will wake up happier and Mommy and Daddy will be a lot happier, too. I know you are capable of sleeping through the night in your own bed, you've done it plenty of times - so don't try and fool us into thinking you can't.

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

It's Only Been a Month!

Keeping with the this blog has obviously been moved to the bottom of my priority list. As hard as it is to keep up with - I miss it. I love being able to go back, read what we were up to and see how much life has changed. I'm not making any promises - but I'm going to try and update on a more regular basis.

So in the last 6 weeks since I've updated...

Christmas has come and gone. I think Emily's first Christmas was wonderful and a little bit crazy. DFW had a white Christmas and it was not fun to drive in, Emily did great on the plane, our luggage was lost (and later found) on the way to El Paso, we didn't open presents until 9pm Christmas night - but it was a great Christmas. Emily was the center of attention on both sides of the family and she got to meet a lot of new people.

New Years....yeah, I think we made it until about 10pm. We partied hard ;)

My Horned Frogs made it to their first BSC bowl (yay!) and played like crap (boo!). My friend, Ida, made Emily an adorable little tutu to wear during the game and she looked adorable it in!

Emily is now 5 months old! She's rolling over like crazy, sitting up pretty good and becoming more and more vocal. She's been having trouble sleeping the past few weeks - so we moved her into her own crib. Tonight is her second night in there. It's made me really nervous to have her so far away - but we got the Angelcare monitor to held calm my nerves. It's been really nice. She slept good last night - let's hope she does it again!

At Emily's 4-month appointment she was 26.5" long and 12.5lbs - we go back in a couple of weeks for her 6-month well baby exam. We also have Emily's 6-month pictures scheduled in a couple of weeks with Jennifer at HauteShot Photography. She took Emily's newborn pictures - we loved them so much, we had to use her again!

Ok - that's all the time I have for this update. I promise to update more often! Enjoy a couple of pictures.
