Weekend Stuff

We've got a busy Saturday planned and I'm excited!
- Brad is running the 10K in the Cowtown. I'll be there to cheer him and a few of our other friends on.
- Our friend Patrick will be showing some of his art at a local Starbucks - we'll be going by to support him.
- I've really, really been wanting to go to the zoo lately. If the weather is decent I'm going to try and talk Brad into it.
- Dinner at Reata to celebrate our anniversary. It's our favorite restaurant and place we got engaged. I'm just a little sad because my favorite dish on the menu is no longer there - guess I'll have to try something new.
- Hang out some place downtown.

I'll try to take some pictures of Saturday's festivities but I make no promises.

In other news - I think (about 98% sure) I've picked out the baby bedding and nursery decor. I found a girl set and boy set that I LOVE! They are very different from each other. Check them out and let me know what you think:
Boy Bedding - Cooperstown
Girl Bedding - Butterflies and Dragonflies

Banjo and I are off to talk a walk and I then I've got errands to run.

Have a good weekend!

Happy Anniversary!

Today is our 2nd anniversary. :)

I can't believe that 2 years ago we were on the beach with our family and friends getting married. Our wedding day was just what Brad and I wanted.

I got the best anniversary present any one could ask for this morning - check out Brad's Blog and you'll understand.

Happy Anniversary, Brad! Here's to many, many more years ahead.

15 weeks...just 25 more to go!

I like having my weeks change on Mondays - gives me something to look forward to on Mondays. Today marks 15 weeks - baby can sense light, legs are starting to grow faster than the his arms and lungs are starting to develop. This weeks food comparison? An apple! Apparently an apple is about 4 inches long. I have no idea how much an apple weighs but baby weighs about 2.5 ounces. Read more about the 15 week update here.

I'm feeling better than I did yesterday but still not great. I really, really hope it's just allergies. I plan to go to bed early again tonight. I have a horrible headache and I'm tired. On a happier note - I've felt good enough lately to exercise again - I know the EFX machine has been lonely.

I've been looking more at furniture and nursery ideas. I have a pretty good idea of the style of the room and I've picked out a couple of bedding ideas. Once we know the sex I'll pick out paint colors and I'll put Brad to work ;)

Tomorrow is a big day...it's our 2nd anniversary. Our original plan was to celebrate this past weekend but that didn't work out - we'll be celebrating this upcoming weekend. Brad is running in the Cowtown 10K Saturday morning. I'll be there to cheer him and a few of our friends on. The only other thing we have planned is dinner at Reata (yummy). We haven't really figured out what we are doing in the middle of the day - but I'm pushing for an entire Fort Worth Day - zoo, lunch at ONG (or another Fort Worth Hole in the Wall), Water Gardens and other Fort Worth stuff. Any suggestions?

I Can't Get Sick!

I have a horrible, horrible feeling that I'm starting to get sick. Everyone at work has been sick and I think it's my turn. I felt fine when I woke this morning but as the day has gone on I just feel worse and worse. My nose won't stop running and I'm sneezing like crazy. I feel tired and run down. Awesome.

I can't get sick.

I've got to look at my "approved meds" list and figure out what I can take before bed tonight. I plan to be in bed super early tonight.

Great way to end the weekend.

GRRRRRR

Basically, the doctor's appointment today was a waste of time.

I had to ask for my test results (normal), she told me my weight gain was fine and we listened to the heart beat (148 - was 150 last appointment). That was it. Never mentioned my blood pressure or the concerns the other doctor had 2 weeks ago. She didn't even acknowledge that Brad was sitting there until I pointed him out.

I go back in 4 weeks and see a different doctor in the practice (I'm very ready for MY doctor to be back) and then 2 weeks after that is the BIG sonogram with my doctor. So on April 2 we will know if "lemon" is a boy or girl.

Week 14

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a lemon! Brad has been waiting and waiting for baby to be a lemon - so I'm sure he'll be happy once I tell him.

Our little lemon is about 3.5 inches long and weighs about 1.5 ounces. She is starting to make faces and suck her thumb. Baby is also moving around, punching and kicking (no, I still don't feel anything), and kidneys and other organs are starting to function. Check out more details with the full update on BabyCenter.

In other news - we go back to the doctor tomorrow. I'm kind of annoyed that no one ever called me with my test results from 2 weeks ago. I'm still assuming that means everything was fine. I was good about monitoring my blood pressure at home and it was very normal. I'll take those numbers in with me tomorrow. We see a different doctor tomorrow. Mine regular doctor is still out on maternity leave. I don't know anything about this doctor - she's new to the practice.

Is it strange that every time we go to the doctor I start freaking out? I'm so worried that we'll get to the doctor and she'll tell us that something is wrong. I know it's strange and probably the reason my blood pressure is high in the office. I know I'm just working myself up for no reason - it's just something I do before I go to the doctor (no matter what it's for). And if you tell me to quit worrying, I will NOT be happy with you.

In happier news - I've been looking at nursery stuff. Brad and I agreed we don't want the baby's room to be very babyish. We'd rather have a room baby can grown into. It's been fun (and a little overwhelming) to look around at so many ideas. I do have a question, are the convertible 3-in-1 cribs worth it?

Our appointment is at 8:30am tomorrow. I'll update sometime tomorrow with more news. We should also find out tomorrow when our BIG sonogram is - I'm really, really hoping that it will be in another 4 weeks.

Have a good one!

PS - When is How I Met Your Mother going to come back on with new episodes? I'm tired of the reruns!

Week 13

Want to guess what food baby is compared to this week?

Nope, it's not a lemon. Brad really wants the baby to be the size of a lemon. I'm not really sure why - but I think you should ask him.

It's a shrimp! Not just any shrimp but a medium shrimp. How big is a medium shrimp? It's about 3 inches long. Baby did a lot of growing this week, last week he (I'm only referring to baby as a "he" because he/she is annoying - maybe next week I'll type "she") was only about 2 inches. This week baby's body is starting to catch up with the head and fingerprints have formed. To read the entire update from Baby Center click here.

I'm just waiting to hear back from the doctor on the tests I did this weekend. I've been testing my blood pressure at home and it seems pretty normal to me. Hopefully these tests will confirm that everything is ok. I should hear from the doctor tomorrow but I'm not sure if this is one of those "we won't call if everything is ok" tests of not. If so, no news is good news. I guess it's just wait and see.

Not much else is happening with us. We are trying to decide how to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. It's on Feb 24 but we'll celebrate the weekend before. We are pretty boring people and can't think of anything exciting to do. Any ideas?

Doctor Update

We heard the heartbeat today! This morning was a quick visit with the doctor - but everything looks good. Baby's heartbeat is about 150, my weight gain is right on track, all my blood work came back perfect and for the most part everything is great. The doctor is a little concerned with my blood pressure (story of my life) so I'll be doing a few more tests this week but I'm not concerned. Thanks to my father I have white-coat syndrome. I ALWAYS have high blood pressure in a doctor's office - I monintor it at home and it's always fine. But the doctor just wants to make sure and I appreciate that. I'll make sure to keep a log of my tests at home this week and take them to the doctor next time.

We go back in 2 weeks to follow-up on all of the tests and then probably 4 weeks after that we'll do the BIG sonogram and determine gender.

The gag order has been lifted on family/friends and we've make our news "Facebook Official." In the spirit of facebook, here are my 25 random facts.

Have a good day!

1.There is going to be a mini-Carrie or mini-Brad in August. Yes, that means I'm pregnant. And yes, we will be finding out the gender.

2. I lived in El Paso for 18 years and never went to Mexico. Still have never been.

3. I don't like animals on TV that "talk" - it creeps me out. Think Mr. Ed.

4. Brad never got to meet my dad. The first time he met any of my family was at my dad's funeral.

5. Tulips are my favorite flower and I hate roses.

6. I think Valentine's Day is stupid (this makes Brad very happy).

7. I've been to Australia and New Zealand. I've always wanted to live in Australia (Brad won't go for that).

8. We got married on South Padre and there were only 40 people in attendance. It was great!

9. I've seen New Kids on the Block live in concert twice. Once when I was about 12 and again at 28. I would go again in a heartbeat. It was greatness.

10. I love Beverly Hills 90210 and could watch it everyday. The new version isn't nearly as good, but I still watch it.

11. I have a crush on Dr. Drew, Matt Hughes and Dana White.

12. I have a one-eyed Mom.

13. Before I got married I had 2 guy roommates.

14. I have a dog named Banjo. If I ever talk Brad into getting a second dog it will be named Fiddle (NOT my idea).

15. I like malts better than shakes. My favorite is the chocolate-banana malt from Sonic (yummy).

16. I'm terrified of actually giving birth. I don't want anyone telling me stories about how awful/painful their experience was. And yes, I want the drugs.

17. I like taking personality tests and analyzing people.

18. I refuse to be "re-baptized" and that has caused a little bit of controversy in our home.

19. I know what rear naked choke, arm bar and spinning back first are. I spend 1 Saturday a month watching these being used and enjoy it (hints my crush on Matt Hughes and Dana White). I just hope they never are never used on me.

20. I've been to the Capital One Bowl, Orange Bowl and Cotton Bowl and spent a total of $20 on tickets. I spent a lot more than that on 1 ticket for a TCU bowl game.

21. I won an autographed poster from the Mickey Mouse Club. It was signed by JC Chasez, Kerri Russell, Christina Aguilera and others (I don't remember who). I never took it out of the box it came in because I planned to sell it one day. I'm pretty sure it's in the trash.

22. Tim Hardaway is my favorite college and NBA player.

23. I graduated from the same high school as my mom and dad.

24. One Shining Moment is a great song that I can only listen to 1 time a year. It's a great way to end the college basketball season. Don't bother me during the 3 minutes it's on. And yes, I know it's a horrible song but that's not the point!

25. I'm very lucky to have a wonderful husband.

12 weeks...

...I'm not breathing a sigh of relief, yet. I won't until we go to the doctor on Wednesday and she tells us that everything is fine. Call me crazy, paranoid, or a worry wart - I don't care. I have no reason to think everything isn't ok, but I just want to be sure. I'm not really sure what is on the agenda for this appointment. My regular doctor is on maternity leave and I'll be seeing a different doctor this week. I hope we get to hear the heartbeat!

After the doctor tells us that everything is wonderful with the baby we will be lifting the gag order placed on those that know. I know it's killing some people not to say anything (sorry, Mom). The floodgates will be open.

On to this week's update... we have a lime! Baby is now about 2 inches long and weighs 1/2 an ounce. According to BabyCenter.com reflexes are beginning to kick in this week. So much so that I can poke my tummy and the baby will move in response (aka - annoy the baby). Click here to read the entire week 12 update from Baby Center.

My pants don't fit. I can button my jeans and that's about it. Brad has no issues telling me that it's pretty obvious I'm getting bigger (wonderful, huh?). I'm ready for the weather to warm up a little bit so I can wear dresses - pants just aren't comfy. And there really isn't a point in buying new clothes right now - anything I buy will be way too warm to wear soon.

The weather this past weekend was wonderful. Blue skies and about 70. We took Banjo for a couple of walks and I loved being outside. Before I got pregnant I was really good about walking 7-10 miles during the weekend. Lately, I've had no desire to do anything - that's slowly starting to change. Hopefully the weekends will stay pretty so I can take my walks.

That's all I've got for now. Please keep us in your prayers Wednesday morning.
